My name is Debbie and I was born in 1962 in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. My childhood was slightly itinerant: my family tended to stay in one place for three to five years and then we moved on. I’m the eldest of four children, Dad was a teacher and Mum was there to look after us and keep us on the straight and narrow. By the time I was 12 we’d lived in six different places, including Kenya, Brighton and Wigan. In 1974 we moved to Germany where we lived until I left home to go to university in Leeds. In the 35 years since graduating I’ve lived in the UK, Holland and since 2000 in Perth, Western Australia (with a brief sojourn back to the UK between 2012 and 2017). I have a lovely husband, Mike, and two sons, Dan and Jamie, who both currently in the UK. Our second son, Michael died shortly after birth in 1993. I have always been interested in history and about 10 years ago decided to research our family tree. This site is my record of my findings.
